I am an Information Technology student at William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey, concentrating in cybersecurity and planning to graduate in 2026. Alongside my studies, I work as an IT technician for a managed service provider, where I troubleshoot issues, support end users, and help keep systems running reliably. I also hold a real estate license with Real Broker, which gives me additional experience working directly with clients, communicating clearly, and managing expectations in real-world situations.
My interest in technology started in high school, where I focused on computer science and became comfortable with hardware, operating systems, and basic networking. Since then, I have continued to build my skills through hands-on work, coursework, and independent learning. I have earned industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, and Security+, which reflect my understanding of core IT concepts, networking protocols, and security fundamentals.
Cybersecurity interests me because it combines technical problem solving with the responsibility of protecting people and organizations from real risks. I enjoy learning how systems are supposed to work and then thinking about how they might fail or be attacked. At the same time, I know that strong communication is just as important as technical knowledge, so I focus on explaining issues in plain language and documenting my work clearly for teammates, managers, and clients.
In addition to my technical work, my experience in real estate has taught me how to listen carefully to what people need, explain complex information in everyday language, and stay organized when several tasks are happening at once. Combining IT and real estate has made me more comfortable working with different kinds of clients and has reinforced the importance of clear, honest communication in every professional setting.
Hi, my name is Brendan Lendino. I am an Information Technology student at William Paterson University with a focus on cybersecurity, and I work part-time as an IT technician for a managed service provider. In that role, I troubleshoot hardware and software issues, support end users, and document the steps I take so problems do not repeat. I also have experience as a licensed real estate agent, which has strengthened my communication and client relationship skills. I am currently building my foundation through certifications like CompTIA A+, Network+, and Security+. I am looking for opportunities such as internships or entry-level roles where I can keep learning, help protect systems, and bring both technical knowledge and clear communication to a team.
This is a revised version of my original Week 1 elevator pitch and reflects the rhetorical and presentation skills I have developed in this course.
